Biography:

Dr. Jaime Guzman is a physician and clinical epidemiologist educated in Mexico and Canada with specialist training in pediatric rheumatology and in physical medicine and rehabilitation.

Currently, Dr. Guzman is Clinical Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of British Columbia, Clinical Investigator at the BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute and attending physician at BC Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Guzman’s research has been published in 106 peer-reviewed scientific articles that have been cited more than 14,500 times. He has coauthored widely quoted research on the rehabilitation of chronic back pain and the epidemiology and rehabilitation of neck pain. Since 2011 his research focus is the course and prognosis of children with juvenile arthritis, including pivotal papers on the outcomes of juvenile idiopathic arthritis and how to predict them. He is coauthor of the 2019 and 2021 American College of Rheumatology practice guidelines for juvenile arthritis and a 2022 paper on how to best screen for disability in children with arthritis.
