Biography:
Dr. Jennifer Yao is a Clinical Associate Professor and Head of the UBC Division of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Dr. Yao is the current Chair of the Specialty Committee in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Royal College. She has special interest in medical education and has a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Education from the University of Dundee. She is actively involved with teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels at UBC. Her research interests are focused on stroke and brain injury rehabilitation.
Clinically, Dr. Yao does inpatient and outpatient work in brain injury and stroke rehabilitation. She also provides physiatry consultation at VGH, UBC Hospital, Richmond Hospital, and University Hospital of Northern BC (Prince George).
Administratively, Dr. Yao is the Head of the Division of PMR for the University of British Columbia. She is a board member at the Sunshine Foundation for children with disabilities and a medical advisory committee member for the BC Stroke Recovery Association.
When not working, Dr. Yao enjoys reading, scrapbooking, watching action movies and cuddling with her fur baby.
